Celebrating the spirit of community living, MyGate, India’s largest security and community management solution, recently hosted the #HeroesAtMyGate contest. Now in its second year, #HeroesAtMyGate celebrates the spirit of community living and enables residents of gated communities to appreciate the selfless services of those who have helped them lead a comfortable life. The all-India, open competition received more than 900 nominations from across MyGate and non MyGate societies, with residents nominating Residents Welfare Association (RWA) committee members, support staff, daily help and security guards for their dedication, bravery or commitment to their work.

Mr. Manishankar Upadhyay, a security guard at Rainbow Ville, Secunderabad, was named the winner of this year’s contest, and awarded Rs. 50,000 by MyGate. Mr. Upadhayay was honoured for his presence of mind and timely action during the flood that occurred across Telangana in October 2020. In the heavy rain, Mr. Upadhyay braved all odds and the possibility of an electrocution to help his community from facing severe losses owing to flooding.

Speaking about #HeroesAtMyGate contest, Mr. Vijay Arisetty, CEO & co-founder, MyGate, says, “Gated community living is comfortable only because of the efforts of support staff, daily help, security guards and, indeed, RWA committee members. Particularly in these last 12 months, their contributions have been immense."

"We are overwhelmed by the participation from around the country in just the second edition of #HeroesatMyGate and are inspired by the stories of dedication and bravery. Hope to see everyone in person for an even larger event once the pandemic is behind us.”

Mr. Anil V George, a resident and RWA Member of Saptarshi Towers, Bangalore and 73-year-old Manohar Walanj, a security guard from Oceanic Charkop, Mumbai, were the first and second runners-up, respectively, and were awarded a trophy, certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- each.
