Meta Launches New Anti-Scam Tools, Device Linking Warning On WhatsApp To Fight Scammers And Protect People

Meta announced new anti-scam features across WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger built to alert people before engaging with something suspicious and protect them from fraudulent activity. The new anti-scam tools include device linking warnings on WhatsApp, alerts for suspicious friend requests on Facebook and an expanded rollout of advanced scam detection on Messenger.

1. WhatsApp device linking warning: WhatsApp will now alert users when behavioral signals suggest a linking request might be suspicious. Scammers often attempt to trick people into linking their WhatsApp account to another device or scanning QR codes. These alerts will show users where the request is coming from and display a clear warning that it may be a scam, giving people the chance to pause and reconsider before it happens.

2. Facebook alerts for suspicious friend requests: Meta is testing new warnings on Facebook that will appear when you send or receive a request from an account that shows certain signs of suspicious activity, including when you do not have many mutual friends with them or they indicate a different country location in their profile. The alert will help people make informed decisions before blocking or rejecting suspicious requests.

3. Expanding advanced scam detection on Messenger: When conversations show patterns associated with common scams, such as fraudulent job offers, people will receive a warning and have the option to submit messages for AI review. If flagged as a scam, people will be guided on steps to block or report the suspicious account.

In addition to the product updates, Meta continues to aggressively combat scam activity to protect people and businesses. Last year alone, Meta removed over 159 million scam ads, 92% of which were taken down before anyone reported them. In India in 2025, the company banned more than 12.1 million pieces of ad content for violating its policies against Fraud, Scam, and Deceptive Practices, out of which over 93% were removed proactively.

Fighting scams requires more than technology and enforcement. It requires education and raising awareness, especially for vulnerable populations. Earlier this year, Meta launched the third edition of its flagship anti-scam ‘Scam Se Bacho’ in partnership with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The year-long campaign featured acclaimed Indian actor Neena Gupta and leading digital creators to help people identify and avoid online scams.

ABB’s Motion business is expanding its Peenya campus with two new manufacturing facilities. Spanning 6,100 sq m., the site will accommodate up to 300 employees once fully operational. It will produce a broad range of energy efficient motors, including flameproof (Ex) designs, roller table variants, and large smoke ventilation models, along with low-voltage drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The campus will also host a service and training center enhanced with digital tools and remote diagnostics to support customers throughout the equipment lifecycle. ABB’s portfolio of high efficiency motors and drives installed over the past 12 years has delivered annual energy savings of approximately 20 TWh—equal to nearly half of Delhi’s yearly electricity consumption.

At ABB’s second Nelamangala campus, a 16,470 sq m. multi business manufacturing hub has been set up to expand production for the Electrification and Automation businesses. The facility will support a broader portfolio, including smart power technologies, system interface units, gas analyzer system integration, service labs, blending operations, excitation systems and high-power rectifiers. Manufacturing of power management solutions critical for data centers will scale up nearly tenfold at this campus, reinforcing ABB’s role as a key technology provider. ABB’s low and medium voltage systems already power more than 30% of India’s hyperscale data centers.

The campus will also advance ABB’s innovation led Make in India portfolio, including blending and excitation solutions for lube, paint, paper & pulp industries. The excitation supply factory will deliver systems not only within India but also for export to the wider region to support reliable power generation and resilient grids. The blending facility will include an assembly line for pigging line valves, automation staging cabinets and on-site factory acceptance tests (FAT) to enable efficient and reliable operations in the Indian paint industry. With this investment, the high-power rectifiers supplied to local chemical and metals customers will now also extend to regional markets.

ABB recently announced investment of USD 75 million in 2026 to expand manufacturing and R&D for critical segments and creating 300+ new skilled jobs in engineering, operations, and research. In India, the rising prevalence of diabetes and hypertension continues to drive the growing burden of chronic kidney disease. Lifestyle factors such as high-salt diets, unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles further increase the risk. With India often referred to as the diabetes capital of the world, experts emphasise that individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity or a family history of kidney disease must be particularly vigilant about regular health check-ups.

Trontek To Create 500+ Jobs By FY27 As Lithium Adoption Accelerates Across Mobility And Energy Storage


As India’s energy storage and electric mobility ecosystem enters a new phase of expansion, Trontek has announced plans to create over 500 new jobs by FY27, strengthening its manufacturing and engineering capabilities to meet rising demand across mobility, residential energy storage and emerging grid applications.

The workforce expansion will increase Trontek’s employee base from 967 to nearly 1,400, marking one of the largest hiring phases in the company’s two-decade journey. A significant share of the new roles will be focused on production, quality systems, battery engineering, R&D, logistics and service operations.

The move comes amid sustained growth in lithium-ion adoption across electric two- and three-wheelers, rooftop solar installations and distributed energy storage systems - segments that are reshaping India’s clean energy landscape.

A substantial portion of the hiring will strengthen Trontek’s in-house research and development functions, particularly in battery management systems (BMS), thermal safety engineering, lifecycle optimisation and product validation under Indian operating conditions. The company is positioning itself for the next phase of lithium adoption, where reliability, safety and performance consistency will be key differentiators.

Alongside manufacturing growth, Trontek will roll out structured technical training programmes aimed at developing specialised skills in lithium-ion assembly, safety compliance, electronics integration and energy storage systems. The initiative is designed to build a future-ready workforce aligned with India’s expanding advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Industry analysts note that demand for lithium-ion batteries in India is expected to rise sharply over the next five years, driven by increasing EV penetration, renewable integration and decentralised power systems. Companies that combine engineering depth with scalable manufacturing are likely to play a defining role in shaping this growth trajectory.
