The 7th edition of the Apollo Cancer Conclave, being organized by Apollo Cancer Centers, Mumbai began today and is being attended by over 2,000 Oncologists with over 400 faculty from leading national and international institutions, cancer care experts and  researchers. Commissioner Inaugurates 'Bengaluru Police Eye Care Project' in Collaboration with Nethradhama, Shraddha Eye Trust, & Rotary Blr


·         Marking the First of Many Initiatives to Support the Eye Health of Bengaluru Police Personnel and Their Families

·         Over the course of this program, more than 20,000 officers and their families will benefit from thorough eye screenings and follow-up care.

In a significant move to prioritize the well-being of Bengaluru's police force and their families, Police Commissioner Shri B. Dayananda inaugurated the Bengaluru Police Eye Care Project 2024 at the CAR South Adugodi Parade Ground. The project, created in partnership with Nethradhama Superspeciality Eye Hospital, Shraddha Eye Care Trust, and Rotary Bangalore Prime, aims to support eye health within the police community, addressing a critical yet often overlooked need.

This program offers comprehensive eye screenings to Bengaluru Police officers and their families, with a focus on early detection and timely treatment. Leveraging state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, the project ensures officers and their loved ones receive continuous eye health monitoring. For those identified with specific eye conditions, treatment will be available at Nethradhama Superspeciality Eye Hospital. Additionally, Shraddha Eye Care Trust will provide free surgical care to those without Arogya Bhagya Yojane Cover, ensuring everyone receives essential care.

Shri B. Dayananda, Bengaluru Police Commissioner, highlighted the unique demands faced by the police force, “Our officers work under difficult, often high-stress conditions to maintain public safety. Ensuring their health, particularly their eye health, is not only beneficial to them but essential for our community. This project reflects our commitment to providing officers and their families with the health support they deserve, which will allow them to serve Bengaluru even more effectively.”

Prof. Dr. Sri Ganesh, Managing Trustee of Shraddha Eye Care Trust and Chairman and Managing Director of Nethradhama Eye Hospital, emphasized the holistic approach of this initiative, “Our police force dedicates their lives to protect us, often at a cost to their own health and their families’ needs. Vision health, in particular, can go overlooked until it becomes critical. We’re honored to support both officers and their families, ensuring they have access to screenings and treatment that prioritize their long-term well-being and quality of life. By including families, we address an often-neglected aspect of police welfare, recognizing that the health of our officers and their loved ones are closely intertwined.”

As a pilot, the success of this project will serve as a model for expanding similar programs across other CAR camps in Bengaluru. South Bangalore Emerges As Prime Real Estate Hotspot With 15.1% YoY Demand Growth And 23.5% Capital Appreciation


South Bangalore is rapidly emerging as a prime real estate hotspot, with demand, capital appreciation, and rental growth soaring beyond expectations.

With a remarkable 15.1% year-on-year (YoY) increase in demand, South Bangalore is setting the pace for the city, far surpassing Bangalore’s overall market growth of 3.41%, shared Magicbricks, India’s leading real estate portal.

The portal further shared that South Bangalore’s real estate market has seen an impressive capital appreciation rate of 23.5% YoY, outpacing Bangalore's average of 20.9%. Property rates in South Bangalore have surged by 14% in just nine months, climbing from Rs 7,177 per square foot in January-March (JFM) 2024 to Rs 8,205 per square foot in July-September (JAS) 2024.

For a 3 BHK home, the price averages Rs 9,970 per square foot, with a price range of Rs 1.48 crore to Rs 1.9 crore.

Kanakapura Road stands out as a premium locality with property prices around Rs 9,380 per square foot, providing a serene environment surrounded by nature and cultural heritage. Medtronic Unveils Outcomes Of The Largest Multi-Centric Prospective Stroke Registry On Mechanical Thrombectomy In India (PRAAN)


-First dedicated industry sponsored registry on the use of mechanical thrombectomy devices in patients for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) resulting in great functional and performance outcomes with low mortality rate

-These results corroborate the evidence that Mechanical Thrombectomy is safe and effective treatment for AIS in Indian Population

Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, unveiled results from the Prospective Registry for Assessment of Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Treated with stroke Devices in India (PRAAN) at the World Stroke Congress 2024, held in Abu Dhabi. PRAAN is India’s first industry-sponsored dedicated registry on mechanical thrombectomy, collecting real-world data on the use of stroke devices in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) caused by large vessel occlusion.

The multi-centre study evaluates the clinical outcomes associated with market-released stroke devices of Medtronic for AIS patients with large vessel occlusion condition. The PRAAN registry enrolled 200 patients over 24 months, across 14 centers, and demonstrated that mechanical thrombectomy is a safe, effective, as well as cost-effective treatment for AIS in India.

In India, approximately 1.18 million patients experience stroke annually, with around 21% being suitable for mechanical thrombectomy procedures. Mechanical thrombectomy is a minimally invasive surgery to remove the brain clot. The current adoption rate of mechanical thrombectomy is less than 0.1% in India, generally owing to lack of awareness and access. The PRAAN study aims to bridge this gap by providing real-world data to healthcare professionals and policy makers, thus enabling them to strengthen stroke management in India by improving accessibility and adoption.

The data from the PRAAN study demonstrated high rates of positive functional outcomes and procedural success of mechanical thrombectomy with a low mortality rate in AIS patients. Additionally, the health economic analysis revealed that mechanical thrombectomy (MT) alone or in combination with intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) appears to be cost-effective compared to IV-tPA treatment alone.

Highlights of the outcomes from the PRAAN Study

·       The results from the study are comparable to the global clinical registries and randomized clinical trials.

·       The success rate of revascularization, which means clearing a blood clot and getting blood flowing again in the vessel, is 87.4% after the final attempt.

·       After 90 days following the procedure, 65.8% of the patients had little or no disability.                                    

·       MT treatment is cost-effective as it helps people live better lives following a stroke. Patients treated with MT improved more after 90 days than those who only got IV-tPA treatment

Rural Markets Continue To Surpass Consumption In Urban India: NielsenIQ


* Consumption-driven value growth (5.7%), price growth (1.5%) remains flat

* Rural value growth at 6.7% continues to stay ahead of Urban at 5.0%

* Staples led Food recovery (3.4%) while Home & Personal Care (HPC) volume stabilizes at 6.0%

NielsenIQ (NIQ), the world's leading consumer intelligence company, released the FMCG Quarterly Snapshot for Q3’24 (JAS’24). According to the report, Indian FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) industry has experienced a 5.7% growth in value, reflecting industry's resilience on a 1.5% price growth and 4.1% volume growth.

Roosevelt Dsouza, Head of Commercial – India at NielsenIQ, stated, " The Indian FMCG industry shows resilience with steady value growth and marginal price increase. Rural volume growth at 6% continues to surpass urban markets, despite softer consumption in both regions this quarter. Small manufacturers are rebounding after recent decline, while major players trail in value growth.” 

Market Dynamics: Rural continues to outpace urban

In Q3 2024, both urban and rural markets showed a sequential recovery in consumer demand. Urban consumption growth in Q3’24 is 2.8%, while rural growth increased to 6.0% from 5.2% in the previous quarter, 2X faster growth than Urban. Notably, rural areas continue to surpass urban areas in volume growth across most regions of India. Traditional Trade volumes grew by 4.1% in Q3 2024, compared to 3.0% in Q2 2024. Despite the slowdown, Modern Trade manages to outpace urban growth.

Festive signs emerging: Food volume growth led by staples and impulse    

FMCG saw slight improvement in volume growth in Q3 2024. Food consumption growth increased to 3.4% in Q3’24 compared to 2.1% in Q2’24 (refer to Chart 3). This uptick in volume growth is attributed to Staple categories – Edible oils, Packaged Atta, and Spices despite price growth. In HPC categories, the consumption growth stabilizes at 6.0% in Q3’24 compared to Q2’23 at 6.7%. This stabilization in consumer demand for HPC categories is observed in both Urban and Rural.

Over the Counter categories like Rubefacient, Analgesics exhibited a growth in value sales to 11.7% in Q3’24 backed by price growth.

Small players rebound

Large players continue to demonstrate stronger performance compared to small, mid players, and giants. Small manufacturers recovered from consumption decline of last 3 quarters & grew faster than giants this is led by sharp recovery in volume growth in Food for small players. Giants grow slowest in terms of value growth; and volume growth drops compared to AMJ’24.

 Overall retail sales grew by 28% YoY. All categories showed positive growth, with 2W up 31%, 3W up 32%, PV up 25%, Trac up 16% and CV up 6% YoY. (Marriott) today announced the launch of Connect Responsibly with Marriott Bonvoy Events (Connect Responsibly), a program designed to help meeting planners embed sustainability into their events at participating hotels in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. Connect Responsibly plans to offer meetings and events customers access to detailed Meeting Impact Reports to measure the environmental impact of their events and select options to purchase carbon credits.

The program is anticipated to go live at managed and franchised properties from participating brands globally by the end of October. As part of the global launch, Connect Responsibly is expected to be available in nearly 133 hotels in India, and nearly 500 properties in Asia Pacific Excluding China.

Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd Announces Q2 Results FY 2024-2025


Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited (KNPL), one of the leading Paint companies in India, today at the Board meeting announced its unaudited results for the second quarter of financial year 2024-25. For the quarter, the company declared Net revenue of

Rs. 1864 Crores, a growth of 1 % over the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

EBIDTA was at Rs 215 Crores, a de-growth of 20.3 % over the same quarter of the previous year. PAT was at Rs 130 Crores, a de-growth of 27.6 % over the same quarter of the previous year. Margin was affected due to change in mix and ongoing investments in capability building for the future.

For the half year net revenue was flat at Rs. 3914 Crores over the same period of the previous year. EBIDTA was at Rs 549 Crores, a de-growth of 9 % over the same period of the previous year. PBT before exceptional items was at Rs. 516 Crores, a de-growth of 6 % over the same period of the previous year.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Anuj Jain, Managing Director, Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd said, “The company is seeing strong growth in the areas of Paint+ products, services, projects, construction chemicals and wood finishes. Overall demand in Decorative was affected due to heavy and extended monsoons. A good monsoon would augur well, and we expect demand to improve in the second half.

In Automotive growth was good on the back of several initiatives and we expect this momentum to be maintained.

Performance Coating has also done well and is expected to remain strong on the back of a good order pipeline.

Raw material prices initially showed an inflationary trend but as the quarter progressed, raw material prices have gradually started softening.”

The size of domestic paint industry is estimated at around Rs. 75000 crores as of March 2024.The good growth in infrastructure, core sector as well as automobile and real estate is likely to have a positive effect on the overall demand of paint for the industry in the long run.

HDFC Life, one of India’s leading insurers, recently partnered with riidl Somaiya Vidyavihar, the startup incubation centre supported by Somaiya Trust, to host the ‘Demo Day’ for Futurance Phase 6.

Futurance, an ongoing corporate engagement programme, initiated by HDFC Life, is designed to provide startups with opportunities to develop innovative, next-generation solutions. It involves a competitive process where applications are invited from startups. The shortlisted ones get a platform to present their solutions.

Further, the winners get an opportunity to engage with HDFC Life’s leadership team, collaborate with business units, expand their customer reach, and commercialise their products.

Currently in its sixth phase, Futurance 2024, focused on the areas of MedTech, MarTech and HRTech. The ‘Demo Day’ followed the evaluation of hundreds of applications across these focus areas. Seven startups were shortlisted to present their solutions, with the top three emerging as winners. These winning startups will now conduct a Proof of Concept (POC) with HDFC Life.

MODIFI Secures Strategic Investment From SMBC Asia Rising Fund To Fuel Asian Exports By SMEs

Global Expansion

With the goal of expanding its commercial operations in Europe and UK from the second half of 2025, Hero MotoCorp will be entering the markets riding on a new electric scooter - the VIDA Z. Subsequently, the Company plans to expand its range to high capacity premium internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles.  

Hero MotoCorp has technology centre in Europe - Tech Centre, Germany (TCG) – and the Hero MotoSports Team Rally is also based out of the TCG. The company’s existing and new product range will suitably cater to the present and future requirements of European markets.

The Company announced the appointment of distributors in Italy - Pelpi International S.r.l. It had earlier entered into commercial agreements with partners in Spain - Noria Motos SLU, France - GD France, and UK - MotoGB UK.

VIDA Z 

VIDA Z, the latest product from VIDA, powered by Hero, has been designed keeping a global audience in mind. The scooter offers an enjoyable ride that is fit for the daily commute, while also providing freedom and excitement. 

VIDA Z delivers a “worry-free ownership” by offering the comfort of multiple modes of charging, removable battery, reliable performance and added surety of Connected and Safety suite through MY VIDA App.

The VIDA Z comes with a state-of-the-art permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive train, which offers the best combination of efficiency, low maintenance and performance. The modular architecture can accommodate a range of battery capacity starting from 2.2 kWh and going up to 4.4 kWh battery.

The vehicle will be equipped with our new age, state-of-the-art connectivity suite + cloud platform. This new platform will allow the owners to monitor/track the vehicle health, theft/movement detection, geofencing, immobilize the vehicle in case of unauthorised usage and perform Over the Air (OTA) updates without the need of visiting the service station.

Xpulse 210

The Xpulse 210 is designed to empower the spirit of adventure. The powerful 210cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine generates 24.5 bhp and 20.4 Nm of torque. The 210mm front and 205mm rear suspension along with switchable ABS modes for adaptable braking, give rider the confidence to tackle any terrain.

Whether navigating rocky trails or carving through city streets, the Xpulse 210 delivers a thrilling, responsive ride. The 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch ensures smooth gear shifts.

With a high ground clearance of 220mm, it can handle rough terrains with ease. The 4.2” TFT speedometer provides clear ride information, while the adjustable handlebar ensures tailored comfort. Paired with a rally kit for off-road readiness, it makes the perfect companion for any adventure.

Xtreme 250R

The all-new Xtreme 250R is a fast motorcycle in its segment and a statement of intent for the brand. The sporty head-turner boosts aggressive styling and a powerful stance. Every element of the motorcycle, from the robust 250cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a 4-valve system to the trellis frame, contributes to its agile handling and exhilarating performance. Generating a peak power of 30 PS and a peak torque of 25 Nm, it is built for speed.

The USD front suspension, 6-step adjustable mono-shock rear suspension, and radial tyres with a 50-50 weight balance provide exceptional grip and responsiveness, allowing riders to experience speed with confidence.

This bike begs to be pushed to its limits. Packed with rider-centric technology, including switchable ABS modes, auto-illumination Class-D LED Projector headlight with DRLs as well as a lap timer and drag timer – it is perfect for riders who want to test the limits. Karizma XMR 250

The design highlights are the sleek lines, aggressive stance, racing-inspired winglets, along with ergonomic features like height-adjustable clip-on handlebars. 

The motorcycle's structure is reinforced by a sturdy trellis frame, and it features a USD front suspension along with a 6-step adjustable monoshock rear suspension and switchable ABS modes for a smooth ride. The lap timer and drag timer for performance tracking, along with auto-illumination Class-D multi-projector LED headlight and LED DRLs, enhance the utility of the motorcycle.
