Britannia’s Consolidated Sales For The Year Grew 4% While Net Profits (Before Exceptional Items) Grew 14.5%


Britannia’s Consolidated Sales for the Quarter ended 30th June 2024 stands at Rs 4,130 Crores, growing 4.0% over last year and Net Profit (Before Exceptional Items) stands at Rs 524 Crores, growing at 14.5%.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. Varun Berry, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, said: “We come out of a challenging financial year that witnessed consumption slowdown, particularly in Rural India. Our performance this quarter reflects the agile approach to a dynamic market environment and diligent market practices. We delivered a modest revenue growth of 4% during the quarter, driven by high single-digit volume growth, and improved operating margins over last year. Our market share progressed well as an outcome of sustained investments in Brands, Product excellence, and Innovation.

We continue to make positive strides in Rural as we expand distribution footprint and enhance product offerings to align with regional preferences, and well positioned to benefit from the consumption growth in Rural. As a result, rural market share grew at a faster clip than Urban. We are actively leveraging the rapidly growing Modern Trade and E-commerce channels, both growing handsomely compared to previous year. Additionally, we introduced the Pure Magic Stars and Golmaal variant during the quarter, which have contributed to heightened consumer excitement and strengthened our brand franchisee.

On Cost & Profitability front, we remain vigilant of the commodity price fluctuations & evolving geopolitical landscape. Our Cost Efficiency Program continues to yield operational savings, ensuring robust operating margins. Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Welcomes Third Batch of Pioneering Biotherapeutics Students With Orientation Program


The Manipal Centre for Biotherapeutics Research (MCBR) at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) launched its three-day orientation program for the third batch of M.Sc. (by Research) in Biotherapeutics students. This program is part of the first-of-its-kind biotherapeutics course in India.

Lt Gen (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal, officially inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, he congratulated the students for selecting a pioneering course that will equip them with essential skills to develop therapeutic products, thus contributing to improved healthcare management.

The course has attracted about 15 students from diverse regions across India. It offers a robust four-semester (two-year) curriculum that combines theoretical and practical training in the first semester, followed by mini research projects in the second semester, and culminates in a major industry or academic internship project during the third and fourth semesters.

Prof. (Dr.) Raviraja N. Seetharam, Coordinator of MCBR, welcomed attendees and provided a brief overview of the program. MCBR is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and an internationally trained faculty to guide students. The center has also established collaborations with 20 industry partners, enhancing training and placement opportunities for students.

Dr. S.V. Kirthanashri, Associate Professor and Co-coordinator, introduced the chief guest, while Dr. Raghavendra Upadhya, Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator, offered the vote of thanks. The inauguration was followed by a series of talks and facility tours designed to inspire and orient the new students. Ms. Abigail Rego, Dr. TMA Pai Research Scholar, served as the event's anchor.

The orientation program marks the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the students, who are poised to make significant contributions to the field of biotherapeutics. Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), held its Orientation Day 2024 at the TMA Pai Hall, KMC Administration Block, to warmly welcome the fresh batch of students embarking on their journey in public health education. The Orientation Day began with a warm Welcome Address by Dr. Asha Kamath, Associate Director of PSPH, followed by the traditional Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. Dr. Cherian Varghese, Professor and Director of PSPH, introduced the event with a speech that emphasized the importance of sustaining an enabling environment and outlined the skills and competencies crucial for a successful public health career. NSRCEL at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and nasscom AI are delighted to announce the co-incubation partnership, aimed at nurturing startups specializing in Artificial Intelligence and deeptech. Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered total sales of 7,334 units in July 2024. Domestic sales of the company stood at 4,624 units and exports at 2,710 units in the month of July’24.

PNB Has Asked Its Customers To Update Their "Know Your Customer (KYC) By August 12 To Ensure Smooth Functioning Of Their Accounts


In adherence to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, the Punjab National Bank (PNB), nation’s leading public sector bank, has asked its customers to update their Know Your Customer (KYC) by 12.08.2024 to ensure smooth functioning of their accounts. Black Box Limited Secures Rs. 410 Crores In Funding To Drive Growth And Expansion In Digital Infrastructure Sector

The funding round has garnered Rs. 200 crores from the existing promoters of the company, which shows the continued confidence on the business and its growth plans, Rs. 200 crores from the consortium of marquee investors comprises of foreign institutional investors & high-net-worth individuals and Rs. 10 crores by key management personnel of the company. After the conversion of warrants into equity, promoter shareholding will be marginally lower from existing 71.1% to 69.8%. Black Box continues to be Essar’s key investment in the technology space.

Over the last couple of years, the company has focused on improving margins by taking several cost rationalisation initiatives and emphasis on enhancing the productivity. This has yielded positive outcomes leading to an increase in our EBITDA margins and Profit after Tax (PAT). We had achieved EBITDA of Rs. 428 crores in FY24, growth of 59% on FY23 EBITDA and PAT of Rs. 138 crores in FY24 which is 5.8x on FY23 PAT. We expect continued growth momentum on EBITDA and PAT in current financial year too.

The fund raise capital is a growth capital for the Company and will be invested across several key areas:

*  Expansion of Data Centre Build Capabilities: Data Centre capacity is expected to grow exponentially over the next 3-5 years fuelled by adoption of Cloud and AI. Black Box has strong presence in this segment and would invest in the value chain to be a dominant player providing expanded services to Hyperscalers, Multi-Tenant Data Centre operators and Large Enterprise Data Centre.

*  Advancement in Network Infrastructure: Black Box will deploy capital to expand its Solutions portfolio for its enterprise customers and Data Centre operators including Hyperscalers in the areas of Connectivity Infrastructure and Networking that will be critical to support increasing data traffic and demands of better user experience at the edge.

*  Innovation and Delivery: A portion of the funds will be allocated to innovation and development efforts aimed at pioneering new digital infrastructure solutions, including advancements in cloud computing infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and IoT.

* Go To Market Expansion: The investment will support the company’s strategic expansion and growth initiatives into key Industry Verticals with relevant technology solutions with key leadership hiring and expanding its sales and business development efforts significantly both in north America and emerging markets.

Zomato once again churned out impressive results, with all segments registering healthy growth. Food delivery GOV growth remained robust at 27% YoY, and Blinkit continued tracking its sturdy growth path with GOV up 130% YoY to Rs49.2bn. For Food Delivery, the management sees GOV growth sustaining at >20% in the near term, slightly lower than that in the last couple of quarters. Blinkit’s stellar growth is complemented by continued improvements in profitability, where it sustained adjusted EBITDA breakeven despite investing in new stores. The mgmt now targets a store-count of 2,000 for Blinkit by 2026, as it continues its expansion spree for seizing market opportunities. Zomato has also announced its intention of building a one-stop destination app for ‘going-out’ called District and sees this as its third-largest B2C business. We revise our FY25-27 EPS estimates by -2% to 4%, factoring in the Q1 performance and the aggressive store expansion plans for Blinkit. We maintain BUY on Zomato, raising Jun-26E TP to Rs270/sh on SOTP basis.

All segments saw sequential growth, with Food Delivery/Hyperpure/Quick Commerce/Going Out growing 11.7%/27.4%/22.5%/2.2%, respectively. Food Delivery (FD) GOV grew 10% QoQ/27% YoY to Rs92.6bn. Average MTU in FD grew 6.8% QoQ to 20.3mn. Blinkit GOV grew 22.2% QoQ to Rs49.2bn, with adj. EBITDA sustaining the at breakeven levels. Overall adjusted revenue grew 16.7% QoQ to Rs45.2bn. Contribution margin for FD declined by 20bps QoQ to 7.3%. Blinkit’s contribution margin inched up by 10bps QoQ to 4%. Food Delivery adj. EBITDAM as a % of GOV improved to 3.4% (from 3.3% in Q4), while Blinkit’s adjusted EBITDAM improved to -0.1% (from -0.9% in Q4). Overall adjusted EBITDAM (as a % of adjusted revenue) improved, from 5% in Q4FY24 to 6.6% in Q1FY25. What we liked: Broad-based healthy growth across segments. What we did not like: Softness in FD contribution margin.

Earnings Call KTAs

i) During FY20-24, FD GOV CAGR was 30%. Given the expected structural demand growth and robust supply-side dynamics, the management expects a similar CAGR over the next 5 years, given that it executes well on all three marketplace fronts—customer base, restaurant partners and delivery partners. ii) FD contribution margin (as a % of GOV) declined by 20bps QoQ to 7.3%, and the company expects the volatility to continue, driven by seasonality. However, the mgmt. remains on track to achieve 4-5% adj. EBITDAM. iii) Competitive intensity in the QC business has been high, with some players spending more on marketing and subsidies. But this does not seem to affect Blinkit's performance, given the >20% GOV growth without the need to match the spends and subsidies. iv) It sees a line of sight towards logging a ~2k store-count by 2026-end at least (1k stores by FY25-end), while remaining profitable. Most of these stores would be in the top-10 cities. v) Average GOV throughput per store has grown, from ~Rs0.6mn/day in Q1FY24 to ~Rs1mn/day in Q1FY25. For the top-50 stores, avg GOV throughput is ~Rs1.8mn/day, which is still growing. The mgmt. believes that most stores are underutilized from a capacity standpoint, and hence GOV/day/store should continue increasing even after aggressive store additions. vi) Capex grew ~73% QoQ to Rs1.4bn, primarily due to addition of dark stores and a few Hyperpure warehouses. vii) The mgmt. reiterated that despite the expected increase in both, the ESOP charge and the cash employee expense, it expects total employee cost (as a % of adj. revenue) to continue trending downward in FY25 and beyond.

Bank of India Hikes Rates On Its Short Term & Medium Term Fixed Deposit

Bank has continued its “666 Days - Fixed Deposit”, offering the best interest rate of 7.30% for customers & general public. Super Senior Citizen will get 7.95% p.a, Senior Citizen will get 7.80% p.a. under our 666 Days Fixed Deposit. Loan against Fixed Deposit and Premature

A state-of-the-art assembly unit and parts warehouse has been set-up at Terrafirma Motors Corporation in Laguna, Philippines. Spanning over 6,000 sq. mtrs, the facility boasts an annual capacity of over 150,000 units.

This new assembly facility will produce Hero MotoCorp’s best-selling and globally acclaimed range of motorcycles, including the Xpulse 200 4V, Hunk 160R 4V, and the Xoom 110 scooter.

The company also commenced its retail operations today offering the Xpulse 200 4V at an attractive on-road price of PHP 140,000, the Hunk 160R 4V at PHP 99,900, and the Xoom 110 at PHP 69,900. Each product comes with a warranty of 2 years or 24,000 kilometers.

To prepare for exercise, people are recommended to have roughly 15 grams of carbohydrates (such as in the form of a ground nut, chikki, fruits like bananas) before being active if their blood glucose levels are lower than 100 mg/dl — especially if your child plans to be moving around for 30 minutes or more.

However, sometimes, the pre-workout snack isn't enough to keep sugar levels from dropping. It's smart to have a snack kit on hand even when not exercising, especially as you never know when the need to be active may strike.

4. Keep a diabetes journal

You won't get it right every time — and that's fine. The important thing is to learn from each experience, such as understanding how your child's sugar levels react to different foods and activities. Especially when your child is first starting a new exercise routine, you should be checking frequently. Document their blood glucose levels, the food they eat, and the exercises they engage in, with time stamps. This way, you'll be able to adapt your game plan based on what's working and what's not, whether that means switching up snack time or rescheduling a morning jog or an evening walk. Always consult a doctor before making changes to your child's regimen or in case you have questions.

Doctors at Apollo Cancer Centre Perform Robotic -Assisted Surgery To Remove 1.13 kg Adrenal Tumour From Middle Aged Man


Apollo Cancer Centre, one of the top super speciality hospitals in India, performed a robot-assisted surgery to remove an extremely large adrenal myelolipoma (a non-cancerous tumour of the adrenal gland) measuring 18 cm and weighing over a kilogram to save a 49-year-old male patient. This complex robot-assisted surgery was performed by Dr. Ragavan N, Senior Consultant in Uro-Oncology, and his team from Apollo Cancer Centre using the da Vinci Xi robotic platform by Intuitive.

The patient was diagnosed with a large adrenal tumour, 18 cm in size, significantly larger than the average tumour, which typically measures 5 to 7 cm. Unlike standard cases, where an adrenal tumour sits on top of the kidney, this tumour encroached behind the right kidney, compressing the IVC (Inferior Vena Cava), as well as a significant part of the liver. The pre-operative workup indicated that the tumour was likely a myelolipoma. The doctors at Apollo Cancer Centre decided to proceed with robot-assisted adrenalectomy due to the significant risks posed by the size and position of the tumour.

Commenting on the complexity of this case, Dr. Ragavan N, Senior Consultant in Uro-Oncology at Apollo Cancer Centre, said, “In open surgery, handling such a large tumour can pose significant challenges. The soft and fragile nature of adrenal tumours, especially myelolipoma, which is composed of fat cells, can increase the risk of rupturing the tumour during manipulation. Even though the pre-operative evaluation suggested a myelolipoma, we were concerned about the probability of malignancy. Any rupture of the tumour (especially if it was malignant) could have led to metastasis (spread of cancer cells). Therefore, the decision to perform robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci system was crucial because of the dexterity, precision, and stability offered by the robotic arms, which enhanced our ability to lift and remove the tumour safely without causing any rupture.”

Expressing his gratitude, the 49-year-old patient said, “I’m extremely thankful to Dr. Ragavan N and the medical team at Apollo Cancer Centre who assisted him during the surgery. They counselled me about the benefits and risks of undergoing robot-assisted surgery and executed the surgery to remove the tumour safely without any complications. Without their support and care, I would not have recovered so quickly and returned to my normal life sooner than I expected.”

Dr. Ragavan N further elaborated, “Considering how obese the patient was (110 kg), the complex position and large size of the tumour, open surgery would have posed immense challenges. Removing such a large tumour would have required a 25 - 30 cm incision, which would have significantly impacted wound healing and recovery time, increasing the risk of developing a hernia. Locating the adrenal vein, a very critical yet extremely small structure, would have been extremely difficult in this case owing to the enormous size of the tumour. The minimally invasive nature of robot-assisted surgery with its 3D vision and dexterity made it easier for us to navigate through the challenges and perform the surgery. The enhanced precision and control offered by robot-assisted surgery minimize the risk and improve patient outcomes.”
